Objective
RLP AgroScience is a leading agricultural research institute in Rhineland-Palatinate, based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
As a non-profit limited company, we have the flexibility to secure research funding and are committed to fostering innovation and developing sustainable agricultural practices through various projects. We collaborate closely with farmers, universities, government agencies, and other research organizations. Our research areas include plant breeding, crop protection, resource efficiency, and sustainable land use.
Our main focus is on "sustainable agriculture," aligning with the goals of the EU Commission's Farm-to-Fork Strategy. This involves ensuring sustainable food production while reducing reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilizers. In our Plant Research department, we are dedicated to developing low side-effect and non-toxic alternatives to chemical plant protection products, as well as advancing innovative breeding methods known as "New Breeding Technologies (NBTs)" to optimize plant characteristics and minimize the use of plant protection products for sustainable agricultural production. Additionally, we are exploring methods to reduce the reliance on fertilizers.
Overall, RLP AgroScience plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable and competitive agriculture in Rhineland-Palatinate. We strive to enhance agricultural practices, drive innovation, and address challenges related to food security and environmental protection.
