Molecular Breeding

The "Molecular Breeding" working group deals with application-orientated aspects of the breeding improvement of crop plants. The methodological spectrum includes in particular plant tissue culture techniques, but also molecular biological analyses and the genetic transformation of plant cells.

Our interest centres on various plant species: the legume field bean (Vicia faba), the maple, a special form of sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), and above all medicinal plants.
